Synthetic heptapeptide anxiolytic — tuftsin analog (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro)

Mechanism of action

Stabilized analog of the immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin with a Pro-Gly-Pro C-terminal extension conferring enzymatic resistance. Literature reports modulation of GABAergic and serotonergic transmission, inhibition of enkephalin-degrading enzymes prolonging endogenous enkephalin activity, and altered expression of IL-6 and BDNF in cortical and hippocampal tissue.
